Coachella is one of the most iconic music festivals in the world, attracting thousands of people each year to the sunny California desert. While it’s a fantastic experience, it’s essential to be prepared for the elements and ensure you have everything you need to enjoy the festival to the fullest. That’s why we’ve put together a survival kit with ten essential items that you should bring to Coachella this year to stay comfortable. We’ll even be providing a few of these items to guests staying at Arrivls properties this festival season!
1. Backpack or Fanny Pack
You’ll need something to carry all of your belongings around the festival grounds. Backpacks should be no larger than 18″x13″x8.5″ (festival rules, not ours!) or a fanny pack, which will allow you to keep your hands free while dancing and enjoying the performances. Here are a few of our favorite options!

2. Refillable Water Bottle
It’s important to stay hydrated in the hot desert sun. Bring a refillable water bottle that’s 40 oz or less with a carabiner to attach it to your backpack or fanny pack.
With temperatures often reaching over 100°F, you’ll need to protect your skin from the harsh UV rays. Apply sunscreen regularly and bring a small bottle to reapply throughout the day.
Protect your eyes from the bright sun and dust with a pair of sunglasses. They’ll also add some style to your outfit. Tip: leave the expensive ones at home!
5. Wet Wipes
You’ll be spending a lot of time outside in the desert dust, so bring some wet wipes to clean your face and hands. They’ll help you stay fresh and clean throughout the day.
The toilet paper at Coachella always runs out by the end of the day, so bring a slim pack of Kleenex with you just in case. Trust us – you don’t want to be caught without it!
7. Face Mask or Bandana
With all the dust and dirt being kicked up, it’s important to protect your lungs. Bring a face mask, bandana, or scarf to cover your mouth and nose. This one will even help you stay cool!
8. Portable Cell Phone Charger
You’ll be using your phone a lot to take photos, videos, and stay connected with friends. Bring a portable cell phone charger to ensure you have enough battery to last the entire day.
With all the walking and dancing, it’s not uncommon to get blisters or small cuts on your feet. Pack some bandages (or this mini first aid kit!) to quickly address any injuries and prevent them from getting worse.
10. Compact Blanket
While there are plenty of places to sit at Coachella, it’s always a good idea to bring your own compact blanket to sit on. Not only will it provide a clean and comfortable spot to rest, but it will also protect you from any hot or rough surfaces.
By packing these essential items, you’ll be well-prepared to enjoy the music, art, and culture of Coachella without worrying about the elements. With your essentials packed and ready, you’ll be free to make unforgettable memories and dance the night away!
